The wing of Vedic Astrology known as "Prashna"(question) also known as Horary in English. It is one of the oldest known methods of Forecasting events practiced in India from ancient times and even today. This method is popular because one does not require the horoscope of person and so naturally the 'Time of Birth' is also not required. In this all a client has to do is to put a straight simple question like:

1. Will I get married to 'x'?
2. Will I get a job?
3. When will my daughter get married?
4. I have lost my---. Will I get it back?

The Krishnamurty Paddhati (K P Horary Method)

In the 20th century a great revival of Vedic astrology took place. This is because in the 19 th century the traditional Sanskrit learning was replaced by English education. So the old astrological classics became unreadable for want of Sanskrit knowledge. In the beginning of 20th century scholars like B. Surya Narayana Rao who had acquired English and Sanskrit education realized the need of translating the old astrological classics in English so that both the Western Scholars and English educated Indians could learn astrology. So he translated the great classic of Varaha mihira known as the "Brihat Jataka". His Grand son Late Sri B.V Raman followed by reviving the astrological magazine in English and writing several books in English on the utility, methods and infallibility of forecasts based on Vedic astrology. Several other scholars from all over India and even from the west followed suit and today we have a vast library of books in English on Vedic astrology. Many educated persons keen on astrology published their research papers.

Stellar astrology was practiced right from Vedic times. Astrologers used to mark the stellar mansions of the ascendant and the planets in the birth horoscope. Gradually the utility of these mansions were forgotten. It is presumed that these markings are meant to fix the Navamsa signs of the planets. One Astrologer named 'Meena' began to ponder on these Nakshatra padas and thought that each nakshatra must be having 9 parts each representing one planet. So he divided the 27 Nakshatras into 243 planetary parts. He published his paper. After some time another astrologer named Krishnamurty began to ponder on these nakshatra parts.

He reasoned that it is the time of a nakshatra i.e. 800 minutes, which should be divided into 9 planetary parts in proportion to the vimsottari dasa period of each planet. By doing so he found some overlaps in the places where the one or two padas of a nakshatra fell on the adjacent Rasi. He made the necessary correction. He named the 9 planets of a nakshatra sub division as the sub lords. Thus their came into being 249 nakshatra sub lords.

By thinking over the problem of more than one planet occupying a sign yielding entirely different results he started working on the theory of the sub lord playing an important role in the resultant effects of planets. By god's grace he got the illumination and he propounded the theory mamboed after him as "The Krishnamurty Paddhati" (K P System).

The backbone of this system is:
· Every planet in a horoscope must necessarily be in a star.
· The planet in a star will primarily give the effect of the Bhava in which its stellar lord is placed. Secondarily of the Bhava in which it is And lastly of the houses it owns.
· The effect given by the sub lord will be favorable or adverse will depend on the sub lord. If the sub lord is also a significator for the houses 6, 8, or 12 the result will be bad. The discovery crowned Sri Krishnamurty with success and he propagated the method. Now the method is widely used by Vedic astrologers.

This method is very useful for Horary. The client is asked to give a number with in 249. The number fixes the ascendant, sign its star lord and sub lord. Using an ephemeris and Krishnamurty ayanamsa the house division is made and planets are fixed as they stand at the time of question.

The bhava significators and their sub lords are worked out. The benefics and Malefic are segregated and if benefics are found in the right house success is predicted. This system if understood and applied properly gives 100% accurate results.
